problem was binaries (package, and stuff in libexec) not being world executable in the support code. New tarball has been pushed to sunsite ftp.

Set Milestone to next public release.

There should be a code or repository change for this severe issue. Can we change the file properties in svn or should we just add chmods to makepackage? We need to update the rpms and developer tool for this issue as well.

I'm not sure what the problem was. I didn't need to make any changes when I rebuilt. Maybe you have a funny umask set (that prevents o+x)?

Curtis: yes, we can set permissions in svn, but that won't help generated and compiled files. And I agree with Taj here, this looks like something is funky on your build machine (like umask or some other security setting)

What we could do, which is what I *though* was being done, is to make sure copyFiles, installExe and friends sanity checks the permissions. Although I guess there are scenarios where this could backfire on us, like if someone wants to install sensitive data with permission != 0644.

It seems it is a problem with my umask/ACLs to my Openfiler NAS. I have moved the autobuilds to my /tmp area to bypass the ACL issues.
